Hello, my name is Mingwan. Today, I would like to talk about the Ondol system.

The Ondol system is a Korean traditional heating system. Most of the Korean traditional houses have the Ondol system. The Ondol system first starts in the kitchen. As people cooked in the kitchen with fire, the heat and smoke would go through a tunnel underneath the house and rooms. The heat gets into the house and makes it warm, while the leftover heat and smoke go out the chimney. In the winter, the people would be heated and warm in their houses.

I think our ancestors were very smart because when they were using the Ondol system, the Europeans were only using coals to heat each of their rooms. However, I wonder what people did in the summer to stop the hot Ondol system.
