One topic that was in the history hall of Seodaemun Prison was about Ru Gwan Sun. Ru Gwan Sun was an important and famous freedom fighter when Japan annexed Korea. She was a student at Ehwa Woman School but after the March 1st Movement, Japan shut down the school. When Ru Gwan Sun returned to her hometown, she organized a protest and encouraged the public to join the protest. The protest was held in the Aunae Marketplace in April 1st, 1919. Eventually, Yu Gwan Sun and a large amount of number of people held the Korean flag and shouted "Long live Korean Independence!". ("대한독립만세"). After the protest, Japanese soldiers had killed many people and arrested everyone including Ru Gwan Sun. Ru Gwan Sun was sent to the Seodaemun Prison. Unfortunately, Ru Gwan Sun died in 1920, at the age of 18 because of the harsh tortures and injuries.
Korea couldn't have last forever if there were no protests and activists that fought for Korea's independence.
