This morning, we went to Namsan Hanok village. I kinda expected it to be very cold today but it wasn't that cold.
We first went to see Kim Chunyeong's house. It was a bit little but still very nice. Kim Chunyeong is the royal guard. Ofcourse the Sarangchae and Anchae was apart. There was the Jangdokdae too. We talked about soybean sauce and pepper paste and soybean paste. Also the Jangdok is a very scientificlyn well made pot. How it keeps the ventilation well. They say fermentated foods are good for your health. I can guess why.
The house of Min Yeonghwi was really awesome. It was so grand and I so wanted to live there. And also I coudn't help think how lucky the people who lived there was. We saw the large kitchen and guessed where the Anchae was. And there was the Jukbuin. Bamboo wife. It sounds so funny. Men hugged in summer and slept to keep cool.
Then we went to the house of Yoon Taekyoung. There was a family shrine there and they put four tables to serve ancestors of four generations. The teacher told us that the house was built in the shape of a chinese writing meaning the best.
And them about the chamber pot and some guys said it was kinda dirty. But I guess that's just the way the old guys did it. And traditional heating system. Ondols are really nice they warm the floor. I heard no other country thought of that and I was instantly proud of korea. We even have the heating system at apartments so how great is that?
Anyway I really liked it here. Tiled roof houses are always so comforting to see. I don't know why, but they seem sophisticated in some ways. I hope there were more of these houses all over Seoul. Well, I'd definitely like to live in one. |
