Hello. My name is Rachel. Today I'm talk about War Memorial of Korea.
Our first kingdom is Gojoseon(고조선). Many countries attacked Korea many times.
But Korea get over and independence! so we have own language and culture.
since 5th century, Goguryeo(고구려) was powerful countries in Asia.
When Sui China(수나라) attacked Goguryeo in 청천강, general Euljimundeok(을지문덕) planned a strategy. Euljimundeok did not fight hard. Because he had a very smart head.
Sui China crossed half the Sal-su River, general Euljimundeok opened the dam.
Many Sui China's army be swept to Sal-su River's water.
Sal-su River battle is the great victories in Korean History.
Hwa-rang(화랑) is elite group of young man in Silla. Hwa-rang is royal families and noblemen's sons.
They practice martial arts, archery. Also they gathered study.
Hwa-rang had five rules.
1.Loyalty to country
2.Filial piety
3.Trust Friends
4.Never retreat in battle
5.Don't kill anything without reason
Japan attacked Joseon in 1592. This war called Imjin War(임진왜란).
Japanese army had muskets, and Joseon army had bows. Joseon's many houses were destroyed. and many people were killed too. Imjin War continue seven years.
Joeseon people used smoke signals(봉수대). When another country invasion, they communication to smoke signals. Smoke used in daytime, and fire used in night time.

1 smoke or fire : normal conditions
2 smoke or fire : the enemy has appeared
3 smoke or fire : the enemy is near the border
4 smoke of fire : the enemy has crossed the border
5 smoke of fire : fighting has begun.
