Do you know about Gyeongbokgung palace? Gyeongbokgung palace was the main and the largest among the five palaces during the Joseon dynasty. Gyeongbokgung means "The Palace of Great Fortune", and this palace was built by King Taejo in 1395. It was divided into outer palace, inner palace, and the resting and hosting area.

Now I am going to tell you about Geunjeongjeon. Geunjeongjeon is a part of the outer palace in Gyeongbokgung, which was for ceremonies, official work and events. It is also called the thrown hall, and it is the main building of the palace. Geunjeongjeon looks like a two-storey building, but it is a one-storey building with an extremely high ceiling. On the ceiling, there are two golden dragons making a circle. On the staircase leading up to Geunjeongjeon, there are many guardian animal statues. Coronations, royal weddings and Chinese envoy receptions were held there. Behind the throne, there wa il-wol-obong-do, a drawing of the Sun that symbolized the king, the Moon that symbolized the queen, the river, the tree, and the mountain. No doubt Geunjeongjeon is a very important place because not only national official work and events held here, but it was a venue for some important ceremonies.

I've been in Gyeongbokgung palace a couple of times already, but it was great and valuable experience to learn more detailed information about Gyeongbokgung and interesting history about the palace today.
