Unhyeongung Palace Unyeongung Palace was the ersonal house of HeungseonDaeWonGun(Èï¼±´ë¿ø±º) the father of King Gojong. King Gojomg lived in this house until the age of 12, when he became the king. People began calling it Unhyeongung Palace when Gojong became king. It was not an official palace, but it is still an important place in Korean history. There are three main charcters linkged to this palace. First of all, Heungsun Daewongun (Èï¼±´ë¿ø±º) Andong Kim's clan had great power for 60 years from the time of Sunjo's reign. The Joe Dae-bee(Á¶ ´ëºñ) who didn't like the Andong Kim's clan, and also who was Hungoe's Mother, stayed closer with Heungsun Daewongun, who didn't like Andong Kim's clans as well. He pretended to be a fool to get out of the eyes of Andong Kim's great power. That is how Heungsun Daewongun manadged to make his son the king. Secondly, King Gojong was the 26th king of the Joseon Dynasty. He also changed the name of the country to the Empire, Daehanjeguk and called himself Emperor. Lastly, Empress Myeongseong was the wife of Emperor Gojong. She played an active part in politices. She did not have a father. She took hands with Andong Kim's clan to take out Hungsun Daewongun from the political works. His idea and her idea was eventually diferent. She wanted Joseon to be modernized and make relationships with other world, but Daewongun hated to be related with other world. Even China too. There are lots of parts to look about in the Unhyeongung palace. Primarily, if you enter the gate, you see the Sugiksa in the right. This is the place were the guards and the servants stayed. They sleeped, and took a rest ay Sugiksa. Moreover, there is the Noan-Dang. The Noan-Dang is the Sarangchae (The Men's living area) Noan means 'living comfortably in old age'. Heunsun Daewongun rote the big hanging board "Noan-Dang" using the handwriting of the calligraphy master, Kim Heonghee's letter. Heungsun Daewongun died here. Also, there is the Anchae(The women's living area) called Norak-Dang. It was used by Heungsun Daewongun's wife before Myeonseong (Just after she bacame an Empress) came to the Norack-Dang to be educated how should she live as a queen. For addition, as I mentioned about the Norak-Dang, think. Where would the wife of Heungsun Daewongun go? So they built who more Anchae named 'Irodang'. And his wife stayed at here. Not only.. But so as, you would see the high roofs of gates in the Unhyeongung palace. It is called the lofty gate. The lofty gate was high to represent the piride of the noblemen. And a sedan chair and a horse could get into the house through this gate. Lastly to explain, there is the same heating system called On-dol (Warm stone) and the Juryeon. The ondol is used as like this. First. Make a fire. Second, The smoke and the fire het goes down to the floor. Lastly, the rock floor gets warmer, and make your room warmer. Except, there was an Ondol in Noan-Dang, and has a place like a kitchen, but it do not have a kitchen. The Juryeon shows out Heungsun Daewongun's achievements. It is all over the house. As I wrote this, I felt proud that I all remembered the iportant facts, and then I was very worried writing it, thinking 'What if my memory was wrong?' But when I finished the tour with my teachers and did a presentation too, I felt that I could write my writing good. And my last comment is to go to Unhyeongung. At there, I felt a lot fun, and I also liked the palace. And lastly, I loved the interesting informtion that I did not read and knew about it. It was very fun to visit.
