People at the time of Joseon lived in Hanok. Hanok is a traditional house of ours. In Hanok, usually there are 3 seperated areas. These are sarangchae, anchae, and Hangrangchae. Also, our ancestors used ondol, which is a traditional heating system. If we make food and set up the fire, it heats ondol and ondol warms the floor. That's the reason all houses have chimneys_they all use ondol! In Namsan Hanok village, I learned things such as chamberpots or Shrine. Chamberpots were a kind of toilet. There were also Jangdokdae. It is a container that people put food inside. Jangdokdae is made of clay and water so it has tiny holes on the surface. This special container can make food fresh and it helps the fermentation. I like Hanok because they are made with materials that is from the nature. Also, I had realized that our ancestors were very wise. |
