I visited Namsan Hanok Village which is called Namsan Traditional Village in English. It is located in the downtown Seoul, and this village shows various types of houses during the Joseon Dynasty including palaces, tiled roof houses, thatched roof housed.

First, I will talk about the palace. Only the King could live in the palace, and there are 99 kans in the palace. A kan is the distance between two pillars. The palace was painted with Dancheong for a colorful decoration, and it is huge and magnificent.

Secondly, I will talk about tiled roof housed. Noblemen lived in tiled roof houses, and the house was divided into three parts. Sarangchae, which was the area for men. Anchae, which was for women. Haengnangchae, which was for servants and guard.

Lastly, I will tell you about thatched roof houses. Middle and lower class people lived in thatched roof houses. The roof was mad of straw, because it was easy to find. It was warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

It was so good to learn about Korean's traditional houses. All information I've learn was very interesting. Thank you.
