Today I visited Seoul Museum of History. Taejo, who is the first king of Joseon dynasty selected Hanyang for a Capital of Joseon because Hanyang is good to live and grow crops. There are some goverment officials such as the state Council or the six Ministries. The six ministries are about personnel, taxation, rite, defence, justice and public works. As Hanyang became bigger and more popular, more licensed stores appeared in Unjongga street. Also, there were neighborhoods called Bukchon, Namchon, and Jungchon. Mostly, the people who lives and the neighborhood matches. It was interesting that at the time we didn't have identfication card like now, our ancestors used Hopae instead. On Hopae, there were name, birth, class and the date of issue. Also, I didn't knew that the embroider patches on the official uniforms meaned the classes. I think Hanyang is a very perfect place to be a capital, too. Hanyang is now called as Seoul, even it is a small place, it is still very fancy. |
