Today, I went to the Seoul Historic Museum. It was not that far, but it was a bit boring on the way to this. I was little surprised that it was larger and had more stuffs related to Joseon than I had expected.  I write on the Joseon People¡¯s Customs that I learn there.

1) When the baby was born
When a mother was pregnant, the mother behaved gently for the baby¡¯s health. When the baby was born, his parents hung pepper on the main gate of the house so as to show that the baby would be delivered soon. After 1 year, the baby was celebrated to be alive so much because it was hard for him to be survived in the Joseon¡¯s Era. That celebration was called ¡°Dol-Janchi¡±. The neighbors came to bless the baby¡¯s fortune.

2) Memorial Service of Joseon Dynasty.
In the shrine, family members sent the gratitude to their ancestors. They thought that doing good things for their parent who had passed away would be important because they would meet their parents in the paradise soon. Also, the royal family members and the king went to the Jongmeyo periodically for doing the memorial service. The Jongmeyo is the royal shrine keeping the  ancestor¡¯s Sinju which means the spirit tablet. It was built first and a few of the ceremonies were held there, too.
It was a little hard to learn it. There were too many ceremonies and rules in Joseon. There were lots of creative and interesting thoughts from our ancestors. It was a joyful time !
