Today I went to Seoul Museum of History. I'd like to talk about a baby's birth and a Hopae. When a mom has a baby, she positively thinks about her baby and behaves nicely to protect her baby. They put babies' umbilical cord in a small pot and bury it. The celebration party is held when the baby is alive until his or her 100 days and one year after the birth.
The Hopae was an identification card for people in the past. On its front, there was the name and class of its holder and the date of birth. On its back side, there was the date of issue. They showed their Hopae to gate keepers when they needed to enter the gates.
Now, I'm gonna talk about Hyungbae, actually an embroidered patterns. Official uniforms had an embroidered patch. They had different kinds of animal patterns. King and crown princes, and King's grandsons could have a dragon patterns on their uniforms. Civil officers could have crane patterns, and military officers had tiger patterns which means bravery.
I think it was amazing to see and learn how our ancestors used to live and their wisdom. I'm proud of our history and our ancestors.
