Today I went to the '경운궁', the old name for '덕수궁'. My inspired topic of today was the '석어당'. '석어당' is very unique among any other buildings. First of all, 석어당 has no Japsang (잡상), neither the 단청 colors, the 5 traditional colors of korea. This was because the Danchung reminded the sad moments of suffering the 임진왜란, and that we shouldn't forget. Next, there is a special feature of the palace. It is the only 2-storied building of the whole entire area! Lastly, there is a very tragic story. King 광해군's father's wife, which whom was the king's mother, died in such an early age, and so the king's father greeted a new wife, named Queen Mother 인목. Queen mother 인목 had lots of suns, and some supported her sons to be the king, instead of king 광해군. Now of course, King 광해군 got afraid and killed all of the sons, then he locked up Queen Mother 인목 in 석어당. Thank you so much for reading my essay and have a wonderful day! |
