Changgyunggung Palace Changgyunggung is one of the five palace in Seoul. It was built by Seongjong(¼ºÁ¾), and he built it for his mother and grandmother. There are many details of Changgyunggung, and we went to Changgyunggung to see these special details today. There are some sad stories about Changgyunggung, too. For example, the mother of king Gyeongjong, also known as Lady Jang(ÀåÈñºó) was died here. Before she died, she said, "I am the mother of the crown prince!" Also, crown prince Sado was also died here. His death was a result of faction. In addition, Japan changed Changgyunggung into a zoo during the Japanese occupation, but fortunately, it was restored in 1984. I believe that it was wrong for the Japanese to change Changgyunggung to a zoo because Changgyunggung has a rich history and has a important meaning. The structure of the Changgyunggung is divided into the outer palace, the inner palace, and the back garden. The main buildings inclue Honghwamun(ȫȹ®) and Myeongjeongjeon(¸íÁ¤Àü). Also, there is a bridge named Okcheongyo(¿Áõ±³) which is the only bridge that is not damaged until today. Okcheonggyo was the most memorable place that we went today because the fact that it was not damaged or burnt over these years was interesting for me. I personally think that Changgyunggung is a very special place, and i was lucky to visit there. If I have a chance to go there one more time, I want to see more important buildings in CHanggyunggung, and learn more about them. Also, I feel sorry for crown prince Sado who was the victim of faction.
