Today, I went to 경운궁. It is one of the main palace in Seoul. It is also known as 덕수궁. Actually, this palace was the private house for King 성종’s brother. It became a main palace during Japan’s Invasion, Imjin war. 경운궁 has long history. It was changed and expanded by King 고종, the emperor of Daehan Empire. 고종 added new King’s throne, 중화전. Before that, there were 즉조전, where King 인조 and 광해군 did their coronation. Also, this palace is one of the first place to build westernized buildings. 석조전 is one of them. It has the living room for government officials, a reception hall and the king and queen’s bedroom. The difference between Korean traditional palace and this building was that it was made out of stones and it has court in front of the building. 경운궁 was well harmonized with Korean and Westernized building, which looked awesome. If I can come again, I want to go into the 석조전. Now it is used to the museum
