Hi am Rachel. Today we visited Changgeonggung place. Changgeonggung palace was first made by Seongjong, the 9th king of Joseon Dynasty. And it was rebuilt at 1616 by Gwanghaegun. But Japan changed it into a zoo. I can't believe that the Japanese turned a palace into a zoo. But it was restored in 1984.

I first saw Honghwamun, the main gate of Changgeonggung palace. Honghwamun was very big and splendid. It's very surprising that this door is just as when Gwanghaegun rebuilt it. Changgyeonggung palace can be devided into outer area and inner area. The outer area is the working area and the inner area is the living area. In the outer area there are Myeongjeongjeon, the throne hall. In here they held coronations, Civil service exams, royal weddings and so on. Munjeongjeon is the management office and Sungmundang is the place where they discussed about academics. But Sungmundang was under constructions so we didn't saw it. At the inner palace there are Hawngyeongjeon, Gyeongchunjeon and Tongmyeongjeon. These are all king's and queen's living areas. There was also a place called Haminjeong. King Yeongjo awarded the winners of the civil service exam here. And it was the best place to escape from the heat too.

It was a great day!
