What is the main palace in Korea? That is Gyeongbok Palace. In 1395, King Taejo built Gyeongbok Palace. He thought that need a new palace because capital relocation plan. So I'll talk about Gyeongbok palace's main gate, main hall and King's living quarter. First, Gyeongbok palace's main gate is Gwanghwamun. It was rebuilt in 1866 by Heungseon Daewon because we had Joseon-Japan war in 1592 and then it was destroyed. It means the gate of light. Next, it is Geunjeongjeon. That is the main hall. In here king did office work with retainers and held ceremonies for envoies. It has a trick that looks like a two-storey buildings. In fact it is one-storey building with high ceiling. Finally, Gangneongjeon is King's living quarter. The King usually slept and rested after work. Sometimes he held the dinner party in here. There is no dragon ridges. The dragon is a symbol of king so it doesn't need a dragon ridges. In addition Gyeongbok palace has many beautiful buildings like a Sajeongjeon, Gyeonghoeru, Gyotaejeon etc. I'm proud of Gyeongbok palace.
