Today I went to Namsan Hanok Village. Today was the first time to visit there, and I think I had good time. And I would want to introduce about Namsan Hanok Village as I learned lots of things there. First of all, I would want to introduce Namsan Hanok Village's location. Namsan Hanok Village is located downtown Seoul. Personally, I really like Hanok, as hanok's materials are found in nature. I think Hanok is in harmony of nature. To briefly talk about materials that was used, wood and stone was mainly used. Nails were used but not much. In Namsan Hanok Village there are five houses. Lee Seungup, Kim Chunyeong, Min Yeongwi, Yoon Taekyeong and Yoon Dukyoung. To introduce about Lee Seungup's house first, Lee Seungup was a wood carpenter. He was also a middlemen. But he was able to live in tiled roof house, even though tiled roof house was only for noblemen or higher classes because differences and discrimnation between classes were getting blurry at that period. Next, there is Kim Chunyeong's house. I was very personally interested in his house, because it was very humble than I thought. Teacher explained me that he was head of the royal guard, but his house was too humble comparing with other houses but also his statue. I really liked his mind, not enjoying luxurious life and being modest even though he was in very high statue. And there is Min Yeongwi's house. His house was biggest among five houses. Min Yeongwi was empress Meongseong's distant relative's newphew. I liked his house also as his house was really big. I would also like humbel houses but also very luxurious houses. Also there is Yoon Taekyeong's house. I was mostly interested in Yoon Taekyeong's house, because his house was having very unique shape and had serveral differences comparing to other five houses. First of all, his house had shrine. It was able for four generations. And his house was having very unique shape. His house looked like one of chinese character also meaning the best. Lastly, there is Yoon Dukyeong's house and Yoon Dukyeong was Yoon Taekyeong's brother. Also in Namsan Hanok Village I was able to see ondol and jangdokdae. Ondol is Korea's traditional heating system and jangdokdae is where we had lots of clay pots. Ondol's meaning is warm stone. And to work ondol, we needed to make fire in the firhole. Then the heated air goes under the floor, and that also makes the room warm too. I was very interested in jangdokdae too, as I was very surprised at my ancester's wise to ferment the foods with clay pots. I heard that clay pots are able to ferment to foods because they have some small holes that air can go in and out, but not liquid. I thought it was very interesting and I also wanted try some foods feremented directly by clay pots. I think I had very good time in there as I learned many things. And I also hope you to go visit Namsan Hanok Village and make good memories in there.
