I visited 대성전 today. 대성전 is a building that keeps Confucius' spirit tablet and the Joseon people did the 문묘제례. It was held twice a year. One was held in Autumn when Confucius was born and the other was held in Spring when the Confucius died. At the east of 대성전 there is a 동삼문, there is where the king entered.At the front of 대성전 there is a 신삼문, they believed that the spirit enters. In front of 대성전 there are two Thuja trees, one has three branches and the other tree has five branches. It means three guides and five relationships in Confucianism. I felt interesting that a tree has so much meaning in it. There is a dormitory called 동재 and 서재. There is a drum, in nowadays its like a school bell. If he hits 1time it means wake up, 2times dress and get ready to study, and 3times it means breakfast time. If your grade is best you get the first room, otherwise you have the last room. I always wondered what would a Joseon school looked liked now I know how it looked like so I think that I had a great time!
