Today I went to Namsan Hanok village. My topic is about the Korean traditional Ondol system and Jangdokdae. First, I'll explain about the Ondol system. Ondol is a system that makes a room's floor warm. Ondol was usually used in winter. Is there some different types of system that works similar with Ondol  in your country? If so, you will be interested in how the Ondol system works. When someone puts fire in a furnace, it's steam will pass under the room. Then it will make the room's floor warm.(The steam will go out through the chimney.) It is so interesting, isn't it? Now I'll explain what is Jangdokdae and how it was used. Jangdokdae is a big pot that stores ferment food. It has small holes for the ventilation. Jagdokdae usually keep kimchi, soy sauce, soybean paste and pepper paste. I think our ancestors were so clever! Do you know another type of storage area like as Jangdokdae? It would be good to hear!! Thank you for listening.
