Hi my name is Wonjun. Today we went to Changgyeonggung! It was very exiting and interesting! First we passed the main gate which is called Honghwamun. We passed Okcheongyo which is a bridge that connects to the main hall. They say that the scary little monster carvings are suppose to keep the bad spirit from coming in to the palace. I thought they were cute. Also the water flowing trough purify your mind. After we learned about Okcheongyo we visited the main hall. The name of the main hall is Myeongjeongjoen. Myeongjoengjeon was for official events such as coronations, royal weddings, Civil Service Exams and so on. On the point of king's view the road is carved. Your guessing "why is it curved?". Its because if their is a assassin attemnt it is not straight so you have to make your arrow curve which is nearly impossible. There were ranking stones that show how high you are or how low. The closer it was to the throne the higher ranking officer you were. But I think that's not fair because what if you want to sit in the back and you were a high ranking official? There is another thing that I think it's unfair it is the road that you take. The king goes on the middle road(which is the biggest) and there are to smaller road on the sides left for the military officers and the civil officials. I mean come on man, it's just a road! Ok enough complaining. Now I want to talk about Dancheong. Dancheong is a splendid design on the roof. It's on mostly all the buildings in Changgyeonggung. It is very colorful it has 6 colors on it and they represent the elements that make up this world. Red represents fire, black represents water, green or blue represents tree or wood, white represents metal and finally yellow represents soil. I don't know why they don't have oxygen, it's what you breath people of Joseon dynasty! Finally we are going to talk about Japsang. Japsang are special microscopic figures that protects the palace from bad spirits. the little guys are from journey to the west, incase you didn't read it it's basically a monkey, water ghost, pig and a master Buddhist monk traveling to the west while they fight the good guys. I guess this is it, so good bye!!!!!!!!!! And thank you for reading my essay!!!!!! P.S. my password is 11.
