Today I went to the National Folk Museum of Korea. It was a really fun experience, and I learned a lot about Korean culture. One of the things that impressed me the most was a Jangdok. It was amazing that there was a refrigerator like this in Joseon. A Jangdok is a Korean traditional Pot used for storing fermented food something like Kimchi. It functions far better than a plastic vessel because a Jangdok has ventilation. I also enjoyed learning how to make Kimchi. Kimchi-made vegetables mixed with various ingredients. Koreans use nearly all kinds of vegetables to make Kimchi. The most common vegetables used are Chinese cabbage, radish, cucumber, leek, and sesame leaves. There are 200 different kinds of Kimchi in Korea today. I had a great time at the National Folk Museum of Korea. I learned a lot about Korean culture, and I had a lot of fun. I would recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about Korea. |
