Unhyeongung Palace: Heungseon Daewongun's personal house

  Today, I went to Unhyeongung palace located near the Gyeongbokgung.

Actually, Unhyeongung palace was the personal house before Gojong became a king.

In Unhyeongung palace, there are three sections, Sarangchae, Anchae, and Hangrangchae like other korean houses.

Sarangchae is man's living area, Anche is for the woman and Hangrangchae is for the servants and the guards.

When you go into the Unhyeongung palace, you will see Sujiksa located to the right of the front gate. Sujiksa is located near the front gate to protect Unhyeongung palace.

Also, there is Noan dang which is Sarangchae of Unhyeongung palace.

Noan means living comfortably in old age. Heungseon Daewongun also discussed about political issues here. And there is Norackdang the Anchae. There was wedding ceremony of king Gojong and Empress Myeongseong here too. the last room of Unhyeongung palace is irodang was built because Heungseon Daewongun's

family could not use the Norackdang after the marriage of Gojong and Empress Myeongseong. Heungseon Daewongun's wife stayed here. And the main gate of the Unhyeongung palace is the lofty gate. it represent the pride of the nobleman and it was made for a sadan chair. lastly

there is a wall and the Ondol. The wall of the Unhyeongung palace has a ancient chinese language about the wishes they have. Ondol is Korean heating system that uses hot steam. I think Unhyeongung palace is very important and beautiful. Unhyeongung palace is very valuable culture assets.
