Hello my name is jihu and today I visited the cheongdukgong. I would like to talk about the hamabi.
The hamabi is placed in front of the main gate. The hamabi is a stone tablet that tells everybody to get off thier horses without considering thier royal status. People had to get off thier horses to show respect to confusious. Similar Hamabi were placed in palaces royal shrines and tombs. But because in the cheongdukgong the hamabi was to show respect to confusius, in the palace the Hamabi was built to respect the king.Hamabi is a importnat part of monuments that shows respect to the owner of the palace and confusius. I think that Hamabi is a important part of our culture and a part of culture that is unique.
