Sungkyunkwan
Today, I went to the ¡®Sungkyunkwan¡¯. First, I saw Tangpyeongbi and Hamabi. Tangpyeongbi was monument carved with the words on stone for students from king Youngjo. Hamabi is a stone tablet indicating that one should dismount from a horse regardless of his social status. Seojae was the dormitory for students of Sungkyunkwan. Jongyeonggak was a library where Confucianism books were stored.
Next, I saw 2 gates. Sinsammunand Dongsammun. Dongsammun is the main gate of Munmyo. It has three gates. Middle is kings door. Sinsammunan was usually closed and they open the gate only when the king came to serve MunmyoJerye.
Myojeongi is the monument carved with the history of construction of Munmyo. Jegigo was the place where plates and equipment for Munmyo. Subokcheong was a residence for male servant who worked in Sungkyunkwan. Daseongjeon is a shrine whose role is to keep a spirit tablet of Confucius.
Dongmu and Seomu was a secondary shrine of Daeseongjeon. Myeongryundang is a main lecture hall where the students of Sungkyunkwan had lessons. Jhinsa-Sikdang was a restaurant where students had breakfast, lunch, dinner.
The place I was most interested in was Jhinsa-Sikdang in which students was eating. If I had been a Sungkyunkwan student, I would have eaten delicious food. I wonder what the students ate there. Maybe it were very nice one.
I think that I am very lucky because I was born in Korea, not in Joseon which had status system. I would had not studied in Sungkyunkwan for my status.
