Have you ever heard or visited Sungkyunkwan? Imagine that you are going inside Sungkyunkwan flying back to the times of Joseong Dynasty. What woould you see there? As you go inside, you are now passing by Tangpyeongbi, Samgangoryun trees and Yukilgak.
First, I'll talk about "Tangpyeongbi". It is a monument carved with words. King Youngjo inscribed words on it for the Sungkyunkwan students. He wrote asking students not to separate into factions but try to be true officials for the country. I think he is very generous to write by himself those thoughtful message to the students. Next, I'll talk about Samgangoryun trees. These two trees are located in front of the Daesongjun. The rignt tree has three branches and left has 5 branches. They stands for guardians for human relations. The right three branches mean guardians for "King to servants", "Parents to Children", and "Husband to Wife". The left five branches mean for "King to servants", "Parents to Children", "Husband to Wife", "Elder to Younger" and "Friends". Lastly, I'll talk about Yukilgak. The 6 subjects of cultural studies students learned are music, manners, archery, geometry and horse-riding. The bows and arrows for archery were stored in here.
In conclusion, I got to know a lot about Seongkyunkwan. It was very hot but fun. I hope I can come again and see the rest I didn't see due to construction today.
Thanks for reading and see you tomorrow! |
