Do you know how many palace in Hanyang? And do you know which palace is the main palace? There are five palaces in Hanyang. Among them, Gyeongbokgung palace is the main palace. Have you ever been to Gyeongbokgung palace? Today, I am going to introduce you about Gyeongbokgung palace.

Many people don't know exactly what Gyeongbokgung's meaning is. Gyeongbokgung's meaning is the "Palace of Great fortune". Gyeongbokgung palace is built by Taejo Yi Seonggye, and it was burned in Japanese invasion. So Heungseon Daewongun who is father of king Gojong rebuilt the palace. There are mountains behind the Gyeongbokgung palace, and there is stream in front of palace. According to Feng Shui, Gyeongbokgung palace is located in the best place. Gyeongbokgung palace is specifically divided into three parts, outer palace, inner palace, and backgarden. Outer palace is place for official works, ceremonies and events. Inner palace is for official work and the backgarden is for resting and hosting place. From now on, I will talk about Geunjeongjeon and Sajeongjeon which is part of the outer palace.

Firstly, Geunjeongjeon is the thrown hall of Gyeongbokgung palace. When you look Geunjeongjeon just roughly, it looks like two-story building, however actually it is only one-story building. Some kinds of ceremonies were took placed in here, such as coronation, weddings, and chinese envoy reception. Also, king worked national affairs with his officials in Geunjeongjeon too.

Secondly, Sajeongjeon is place for king's daily working office. King used Sajeongjeon to discuss or decide something with officials. Also, he studied and review in here too. Sajeongjeon is merged with Cheonchujeon and Manchunjeon. These were used during the winter time.

To sum up, I think Gyeongbokgung palace is very nice even though the palace is very simple. If I get a chance, I want to live in Gyeongbokgung palace one time. And I want to enjoy the king's power and dignity. Thank you!!
