Hello, my name is Hyewon Kim. Today I went to Changgyeonggung Palace. I am going to talk about Honghwammun. Honghwammun is the main gate of Changgyeonggung Palace. "Does your country have a gate that's facing a different direction?". Honghwammun is the only gate that faces east. And the gates in the other palaces all face south. When Changgyeongung Palace was built by Sejong it was called Suganggung Palace. But during King Seongjong's time, the palace was a palace for his mother and grandmother. It was renamed as Changgyeongung. During the Japanese Invasion, it was destroyed. And was rebuilt by King Gwang Haegun. I felt I wanted to go to Changgyeonggung palace again. |
