Have you ever been to Gyeongbokgung Palace? Maybe yes, or no. And I'm going to explain about the Gyeongbokgung palace which King Taejo made is the main palace and the largest palace in Korea. Gyeongbokgung palace means "The Palace of Great Fortune." Also Gyeongbokgung Palace was built by Feng Shui so there were montains behind and streams were at the front. To enter the palace you should enter the gate. It maybe other door but Gwanghwamun is the main gate. It has some tradgies. It was destroyed because of the Joseon-Japan War in 1592 and rebuilt by Heungseon Daewongun, the father of Gojong at 1866.It was destroyed again during the Korean War in 1968 and was rebuilt at 2010. Befor I introduce the palaces I'm going to tell you that palace divides in to three kinds.First the inner palace. Inner palace is for the royal families.Second, the outer palace is for ceremonies, official works and events. Lastly there is a resting and hosting area and it was for resting and hosting. Now, the main palace in Gyeongbokgung is Geunjungjeon.this palace was for ceremonies such as coronations, and royal weddings. So it is the outer palace in Gyeongbokgung palace. And it looks like a two storey building, but it is actually one storey building. Inside it there is a folding screen called 일월오봉도. And it symbolized king, queen, retainer and the people who live in joseon. Going on, I'm going to explain about the king's living quarter. It is called Gangneongjeon. There is no dragon ridge because it symbolized the king and there can't be two kings. The king slept here. This is a palace for the royal family so it is a inner palace. The last place I'm going to introduce is Gyeonghoeru. It is for resting and hosting. so it is resting and hosting palace. however Gyeonghoeru is one of the national treasure. It has 48 stone pillars. The outer pillars are square and the inner pillars are round.This comes from the Yin Yang theory.
