Do you know the biggest palace in our country that was made in Joseon dynasty? I think most of you will know about this already. You can cheak it at the title it is Gyeongbokgung palace! It is the very big and luxury. Also they are beautiful. So know I will explain you about this great Gyeongbokgung. Before you learn about it, you should learn about the meaning of Gyeongbok. It means the great fortune. So they wants the great fortune for their country.
There are many buildings in this palace but I think Geunjeongjeon is the best. It has a dancheong and jabsang of course so they believe it that protects from evil spirits and shows the symbol of king to others to make them to understand the difference from king and ordinary people. They usually have official work and events like coronation, wedding, Chinese envoy reception and more. That is why it is important. Out of the building, we can see ranking stone. The retainer should stand here and bow to the king everyday morning. The more they go farther, lower the rank is. So at the front of it, they have a highest rank in this ranking stone. Also we can see a stone terrace. On it, there are 10 animals and 4 guardians. They have only 10 not the 12. What do you think about it.? They think dog and pig is too common to put on at this terrace. That is why we can't see pig and dog. Do you know about the 4 guardians? People believes it protects each ways what they are looking. First, at the east there is a blue dragon. Second, there is a white tiger at the west. Third, there is a red pheonix at the south. And the last they have black turtle at the north. Inside the building they have throne and a yellow dragon at the ceiling. I didn't mention the yellow dragon at the 4 guardians but they also have yellow dragon that protects the middle and have a symbol of king.
Gyeongbokgung has very big buildings, large, luxury, and beautiful. I recommend you to go this palace if you have a time. It will show you a lot of thing and your leg will be busy. Thank you for listening.
