Today, I went to National Folk Museum. In the folk museum we can learn about the lifestyle of Koreans. I learned about seasonal activities in Joeson, ordinary lifestyle of the nobles and lower class people, and all kinds of celebration in Korea. However, I am going to mainly talk about the celebration in Korea.

First, In Korea when babys are borned, families hung a straw rope in the door, which is called Geumjul. If a baby boy was borned, people hunged red pepper and charcoal. If baby girl was borned they hunged pine tree and charcoal. The purpose to hung a Geumjul was to prevent evil spirits from coming.Geumjul was usually hunged for 21 days. After, there was another celebration on the 100th day called Baekil after the baby was borned. Also, at the first birthday of the baby there was Dol party too.In the past, many babies died young so they celebrated Dol and Baekil grandly.

Moreover, when the baby becomes adult, there is another celebration called Kwanrye or Gyerye. At this celebration,Boys tie up their hair and wear Gat, Girls roll up their hat and pin it with a hair pin called Binyeo. After Kwanrye or Gyerye people got maried. In Korea we call it Honrye. They got married in an early age.Even 10 years old can get married too.The wedding was mostly held at the bride's house.

Lastly, there is Hwangab, the 61th birthdaty of a person. At then, adults couldn't live long. Therefore, people celebrated Hawngab very glamourouslly. There is also Jesa too.Jesa was a memorial service in Korea. There is two type of Jesa. One is Chare, Chare is a jesa that is held in a morning at New Years or thanksgiving. The second one is Gije, Gije was held in the nidht of the day when a people died.

Hence, I talked about the celebrations in Joeson.I was intrigued about that even 10 years old girl can get married.I was thankful to not be borned at Joeson dynasty since if I was borned  at that time I might be doing house chores or getting married not having a chance to study.
