Have you ever seen Hanok before? Hanok is Korean traditional house which is very beautiful. Today, I visited Namsan Hanok village. Namsan Hanok village shows various shapes of tiled roof houses during the Joseon period. It is located in downtown Seoul and we can learn about the Joseon people's life styles. From now on, I am going to tell you about Hanok and Jangdokdae. FIrst of all, Hanok is Korean traditional house. There are three types of Hanok, palace, tiled roof house and thatched roof house. Palace is very large and it is dercorated with Japsang and Dancheong. Only the king could live in a palace that have more than 99 kan. Kan is the distance between two pillars. Tiled roof house is for nobleman, Yangban. According to Confucianism, men and women live in a house seperately. Tiled foof house is divided into Sarangchae, Anchae, and Hangnagchae. Sarangchae is for men, Anchae is for women. Also, Hangnangchae is for sevants who live in the house. Sarangchae has special things that not in Anchae. It is called Bamboo wife. Men used Bamboo wife when he sleep in summer. In addition, there is kitchen only in Anchae, because during Joseon period, only the women have to cook. In winter time, people use Korean traditional heating system which is called Ondol to survive. When people cook in the kitchen, the warm airs makes floor hot. The elders sit in the most warmest place. Thatched roof house is for common people of Joseon. If was made of straw, soil and so on. It is cool in summer and warm in the winter. Thatched house is not divided into part, it is just a one house. Next, Jangdokdae is kinds of clay pot which used for storage. It was found very easily in any place. In Jangdokdae, people put some food such as soybean sauce, soybean paste, and pepper paste. It is better than plastic because Jangdokdae was made by special clay. So, water or soil can't go inside the food, however the air can go through the food. It helps food ventilation and fermentation. Therefore, always the foods are fresh! I want to get some special clay, and I want to make Jangdokdae too. To sum up, I think our Hanok is the best house among other country's palace or house. I want to live in Hanok even though it is difficult. Thank you! |
