Have you ever been to Seoul history museum? Today I went Seoul history museum. We can learn about the history of Joseon and cultures. From now on, I am going to talk about Hanyang, Donggwol and Seogwol, and Hopae.

  First of all, Taejo Yi Seonggae chose Hanyang as the new capital according to Korean traditions, Feng shui, and Confucianism. Hanyang was the center of politics, economy, and culture. Also, it is near to Han river so, it is good at transportation and farming. Taejo Yi Seonggae made Jongmyo and Sajikdan before the palace made. Jongmyo is shrine for ancester and Sajikdan is shrine for alters to the gods of soil, water, and grain. Jongmyo was built on east side of Gyeongbokgung and Sajikdan was on west side.

  Secondly, Donggwol and Seoggwol is other name of east and west palace. Donggwol include Changdeokgung and Changgyeonggung. Changdeokgung was built in 1405 as a secondary palace. It was used as a main palace after the Imjin war. Seoggwol is name of Gyeonghuigung the west palace. It was built in 1623, and also it used as secondary palace. The area of Gyeonghuigung was Gwanghaegun's step-brother Jungwonguns's land, but Gwonghaegun want to use because he heard that area had great energy for the new king. He wants to became the king because he is son of king's concubiines. So, he have inferiority complex. However Gwanghaegun was dethroned before he entered Gyeonghuigung, and Junwongun's son Injo became the next king.

  Lastly, Taejong Yi Bangwon who is son of Taejo made Hopae law. Hopae is kind of identification card during Joseon dynasty. The men who's age is around 16, they have to get Hopae. On front, there were the name, date of birth, and class for civil service examination. There is issue date in the back. The government used Hopae to get taxation from people. And people who have Hopae, they have to work for their country.

  To sum up, I think Yi Seonggae and his son Yi Bangwon is very clever that their works are give good influence to Joseon dynasty. And I was so interesting about Joseon people have identification card too. If I can, I would like to make Seoul figure and Hopae next time. Thank you for reading my essay!
