I was impressed  at the life of Koreans  in the past in National Folk Museum. A person experienced many Korean events from birth to death. Among them I want to talk about the events related to childhood. When a baby was born, people hung  the straw rope over the gate. Its purpose was to protect the house from evil spirits and to warn people not to enter here. The objects that were hung were different according to sex. Becase babies in the past died young, people held a big celebration on 100th day after birth. At the party people made a baby choose one of some things in front of the baby. They were a book, a rice or money and thread. They have differnt meanings. A book means that he or she will be a scholar. Rice or money means richness. Thread means living long.
