Today, I went to Chang-deok Palace. This is my third time to visit here. Although it was a sad thing that we aren't able to vist the rear garden, but it was glad to walk around the palace again.
Also, this was also a review and another learning time to me. As I walked through the palace, I began to remember the things that I learned. For instance, the Chinese Scholar Tree represents Korean top officials ans it was believed to protect the palace from evil spirits. And in In-jeong-jeon, the offical events take place, Seon-jeong-jeon used to be the King and the officals' office. Hui-jeong-dang used to be the King's resident, but later changed into his working place. Seong-jeong-gak used to be the crown prince's learning palce. And at last, I learned about Nak-seon-jae which I didn't learn last time. Nak-seon-jae was a villa for concubine Lady Kim, who used to be King Heon-jong's concubine.
As I look around the palace, I was able to feel the lost kingdom's tradegy. As I look at the palace, the history has a two-faced aspect, prosperity and tradegy. It was an important lesson to me in this palace. |
