Today, I went to Changdok palace which is UNESCO heritage site. I've already been there before, but it was like sightseeing, so I thought that I had to listen carefully. I changed class from 2nd week to 4th week. So I didn't know today's teacher, but I could talk friendly to them, because they were little bit funny.
First, I will tell you about the main gate of Changdok palace, Don-hwa-mun. It is the style of two-story pavilion. A nine ton bell was hung with a huge drum on the second floor. I want to saw it, but unfortunately, I couldn't. Someone hit the drum 33times, or 28times which meant important things to common people.
Second, three Chinese scholar trees were planted in the palace. They symbolized the Three-top-officials who worked under these trees in China, and it is the following Chinese legend. It is very big, and we could see it immediately when we came in to Changdok palace.
Third, In-jeong-jeon is the throne hall, the main hall where formal events such as coronations were held. In front of there, there are lots of stone posts to show the official ranks. Inside In-jeong-jeon, there's know any furnitures except throne and King's holding screen, and light bulbs. So, it was little bit chilly in there.
Fourth, the most building I like is Seon-jeong-jeon which has blue-tiled roof. Teacher said blue-tiled roof was expensive at that time. It was beautiful when it gets sunlight. I really want to go there, but unfortunately, I couldn't. So, I was said.
It was such fun time to study about Changdok palace. The one thing that makes me sad is I couldn't go inside to Secret Garden of Changdok palace. Teacher said we have to pay some money. Next time, I will go in. Thank you for reading~! |
