Hello, everyone? My Korean name is Song Ah Yeon and my English name is Sally. I went to Gyeongbok palace. I have been to Gyeonbok palace many times, but this time was much fun. Anyway, I'm going to tell you about outer palace, inner palace, Sa-jeong-jeon, Gang-neong-jeon, and lastly about Gyeong-hoe-ru.
First, I'm going to tell you about outer palace and inner palace. Palace can divided into two, which is outer palace and inner palace. The outer palace is for ceremonies like coronation, wedding, and Chinese envoy reception. And inner palace is for king and queen's daily life and official works.
Second, I will tell you about Sa-jeong-jeon and Gang-neong-jeon. Sa jeong-jeon is a king's private office. The King and officers gathered together and studied there. Gang-neong-jeon is king's living quarter. In other place, there are many dragon ridges, but in Gang-neong-jeon, there is no dragon ridges. The reason for that is because dragon ridges represent king, but king actually lived in there so they didn;t have to put dragon ridges.
Lastly, I'm going to tell you about Gyeong-hoe-ru. Gyeong-hoe-ru is large pavilion for resting and hosting parties. It is supported by 48pillars. The pillars also divided into two : outer pillars and inner pillars. The outer pillars are squared and inner pillars are rounded, because it's based on Yin-Yang theory.
Did you enjoy my essay? I talked about outer palace, inner palace, Sa-jeong-jeon, Gang-neong-jeon, and lastly about Gyeong-hoe-ru. I was shocked about Gyeongbok palace because it was so beautiful, and also proud of our ancestors. |
