Hi! I'm Lee Hyun Seo and I'm glad to explain to you about Chang-deok Palace.
Chang-deok palace is the second place I've gone so far with Marie Story.
Chang-deok Palace
Now I will tell you about that "special" palace, a harmony of nature...
Don-hwa-mun is the palace gate, built in 1412. It has a drum on the second floor. If it is struck 33 times, it is 4am and means that people could go around the city, and at 10pm, getting struck 28 times, the opposite.
The Chinese Scholar Tree stands for the three top officials(Young-Eui-Jung, Jwa-Eui-Jung, Uh-Eui-Jung). People believed that these trees protected the palace from evil spirits.
Here comes the main palace, Seon-jeong-jeon. This building was where the king did his daily work. It is the ONLY one that has an expensive, blue-tiled roof.
Nak-seon-jae is last but not least, since it is my favorite building. this was for the King's concubine Lady Kim. It does not have any tree in it, because it becomes 困, which means "tiring". It is natural brown unlike the others that are painted, but it looks beautiful to me!
Before closing up, I would like to have a little quiz... Chang-deok Palace was named a Unesco Cultural Heritage in the year ○○○○. To find out the answer, click here. |
