Hi, I'm Su Yeon Yun an I am here to introduce to the Changgyeong Palace. King Seongjong built it for his mother and grandmother. When the other palaces, the Gyeongbok Palace and Changdeok Palace were burnt, it was used as the main palace. You may not know, but Changgyeong Palace has a sad history. Some people died there. Do you know Lady Jang, the mother of King Gyeongjong? Well, she was killed in Changgyeong Palace. Also, Crown Prince of Sado, the father of Jeongjo, was put to death in a rice chest. And in the Japanese ruling era, the Japanese made it into a zoo. There are outer palaces and inner palaces in Changgyeong Palace. Myeongjeong Jeon ¸íÁ¤Àü, Munjeong Jeon ¹®Á¤Àü, and Sungmun Dang ¼þ¹®´ç are the outer palaces. The inner palaces are Gyeongchun Jeon °æÃáÀü, Yanghwa Dang ¾çÈ­´ç, and Tongmyeong Jeon Åë¸íÀü.

There are small figures on the roof called Japsang.  People believe that they protect the building from the Chinese novel "Journey to the West".
