Today, We went to the 'Changgyeong Palace'.
Originally, King Seongjong built this Changgyeong Palace for he's mother and grandmather. And, when Gyeongbok and Changdeok Palace was burn down, they used this Palace for main Palace.
In this Palace, we can see splendid main gate.But ,I think this is not splendid. But this main gate, 'Honghwamun' is the most splendid among the five Palaces. I think all the gate is same. And nearby Honghwamun, We can see Okcheongyo.
This is a bridge to seperate normal land and holy area.
In this bridge, we can see unique things. That is 'Monster carvings'.This is same like 'Japsang' This Monster, people think this could protect from evil spirits, which is water.
And all the buildings we can see colorful decorations and In the roof, somethings figure on there.
Colorful decorations is name '단청'. 단청 is Korea's traditional decorations for buildings. This decorations is too important, So we can see only Palace of Buddist temple.
In this decorations have means. Red means fire, Blue or Black means water, Green means wood or tree, White means metal, Yellow means Earth.
This is the element of universe. And this symbolize like King's power. "잡상" is a figure like this is too , protect from evil things, which is fire. This is from chinese novel, the name is "Journey to the west". First is Buddist monk, Second is monkey third one is pig. In this Changgyeong Palace have a many stories, So I was so fun.(Like a history of changgyeong Palace.) I have a good time in Changgyeong Palace. |
