Today I went to Changgyeong Palace for Mariestory.

This palace has the most sad history. Lady Gang and Sado prince died at this palace. But Changgyeong Palace's gate, Honghwamun is the most splendid gate in seoul. There are many special roofs in Changgyeong Palace. One roof is called Dancheong.

Dancheng has 5 colors. The five colors have meanings. Red means fire, balck means water, green means tree or wood, white means metal, yellow means earth. These are the 5 elements that made the universe. Also there is a roof called Japsang. Three are small figures on Japsang. People believed that these figures protect the building from fire and evil spirits. Japsang comes from the chinese novel . The first one is the buddist monk. The second one is the monkey and the third is a pig. There is a bridge called Okcheongyo. This bridge seperated the holy area of king from normal land. Threr are monster carvings protect the palace from the evil spirit, which come from the water. Like these unique things in Canggyeong palace. I was very impressed and surprised. But it was very sad because they were sad storeies in Changgyeong Palace.
