The establish of Joseon Dynesty
Hello Everyone! My name is Emily and my Korea name is 고은서. I learned about Joseon Dynesty today. As you know Joseon was established by Lee-seong-gae. And Joseon had 26 kings and it lasted for 519 years. And today I want to talk about how Joseon was established. And how the country name became Joseon.
This story starts from Goreyeo. At that time in China there was Myeong dynesty and the Won dynesty. Myeong dynesty didn't look Goryeo good. Myeong thought that Goryeo could take hands with Won dynesty and attack them. So Myeong dynesty asked many things to Goryeo and also inturruped Goryeo a lot. Goryeo was afraid because they thought someday Myeong will attack them. But, some didn't. The people who agreed was Woo-wang(우왕) and Chyeo-young(최영) and Lee-seong-gae disagreed. But they only could attack them because Woo-wang(우왕) and Chyeo-young(최영) agreed they only could attack them. Even Lee-seong-gae disagreed he went to fight because he was a general. But, instead of going to Myeong, they came back to Goryeo and got Goryeo in his hands. And Lee-seong-gae became a king in 1392. At that time he said that he will still use Goryeos rule and still use the name Goryeo for the country.
Few days later there was a message from Myeong, that said whats your new country name? He couldn't say that the country name is still Goryeo so he send two names 'Joseon' and 'Hwa-leyong(화령)'. And he let Myeong choose for them. He did this because he wanted to say to Myeong that Joseon will serve Myeong dynesty as a big country so please accept it. Myeong choosed Joseon for him. And the new country name became Joseon.
After that, Lee-seong-gae decided to change the capital. He didn't like places that he saw for the capital. So he decided to come back to Gae-gyeong. But, while he was coming back he saw Han Yang. Han Yang means the rivers north. And he was suprized of Han Yang and decided to change the capital to Han Yang.
I didn't know about this story but after I heard this story and I was suprized of this story. So I could remember this story untill now. I hope everybody could remember this story. |
