Peoples life in Joseon
Hello Everyone! My name is Emily and my Korean name is 고은서. Today, I went to Koreay University Museum. Today I learned about Joseon dynesty again.
Today I want to talk about peoples day in Joseon dynesty. First, I would like to talk about the kings day. The kings day starts by greeting to his mother and grandmother. He need to greet them before the sunrises with neet clothes. When the king is busy he send a court attendent 내시.
And when the sunrises he discuss studyies and polotics that is called 경연 after he takes breakfast. Then he will check the officers and he will also check his buisness. And a officer named "사관" will attend here. After he meets his servents it becomes 12'o clock and now he will take lunch. After he takes lunch he will study and discuss problems just like 경연.
Later he will also take 석강 before dinner. 석강 is a night study. And it tells that a king studied 3 times in a day. And after 석강 finally he will take dinner, and he could take a break and spend the time with his family. But if he missed some work he need to do it in the rest of the day. And before going to sleep he need to greet his mother and grandmother again just like in the morning. I thought the king will be always comfortable but the king was very busy.
Now I would like to tell about servents. There are some types of servents there is 관 노비 related to the governments and servents related to individual person is called 사노비. They always need to take masters work and business. And if the perants are the servent the kid from them also needs to be a servant.
And the farmers always need to farm and they need to pay money for the government.
Lastly I want to talk about Governments. When the Governments attend they need to sign at the attendent check list. Then he will greet the king that is called 조회. He need to wake up early because 조회 is in the daybreak. And there are is 3 types of 조회. The 3 types of 조회's are 조하, 조참 and 상참. And also the governments work 12hours. They could only rest in the King, Queen, King mothers birthday and also sol and Chuseok.
