I also studied about the Gyeongun palace. When the Han-il treaty took place, Japan changed its name to Deoksu Palace. Many people thought that the name “ Deoksu” was the real name of the palace. However, this was not true. The Gyeongun Palace is famous for its stone wall road. Also, it is very unique because it has western styled buildings, unlike other palaces. In Gyeongun Palace there are some important buildings that people should know. First is the Jungwajeon, the main building that hosts the main events. Second, is the Seokeodang; it is the only two story buikding in the palace. Third is the building where King Gojeong relaxed. It is the Jeonggwangheon building that shows the Korean and Western architectural designs Also, King Gojong is the first person to drink coffee in Korea. Gyeongun Palace looks like a little park. However, the Japanese made it. The Gyeongun Palace was a poor place during the Joseon Dynasty. So, I think that from now on we should protect the Gyeongun palace because it is an important palace in our history. |
