National Korean Museum
Today I went to the National Korean museum. During the last period of Shilla, the powerful clans were much stronger than Shilla’s nobles. Clan leaders rule their own territories and Shilla’s government didn’t. While the central government was weak, powerful families rose and made greater forces.
Gung-ye established later Goguryeo and Gyeon- hwon established a later Baekje.
This is now called the later three kingdom period. Wanggueon overthrew Gung-ye and made Goryeo.
At this time, later Baekje was strongest of Goryeo, later Baekje, and Shilla. However, later Baekje got weaker because of continuous battles and civil war inside the inner country’s government.
Finally, Goryeo got surrender from Baekje and Shilla and unified the later 3 kingdom period. |
