Namsan Hanok Village

Today I went to the Namsan Hanok Village. The houses can let us know about how the Joseon people lived. There are two different houses for two different classes. The hanoks are built in harmony with nature. Also, they had wooden columns and walls made out of straw and clay mixture. The noblemen lived inside a hanok with tiled roof. In these houses, the male and the female’s quarters were strictly separated because of beliefs. Male had a quarter called Sarangchae with a room to study, draw picture, and to sleep and female had a quarter called Anchae with a kitchen to cook and make the ondol system work in the winter and the servants had a room called Haengrangchae. The middle and lower class people lived in thatched roof houses. Straw was usually used for the roof because it was easy to find. Thatched roof houses are cool in the summer and warm in the winter. This house is simple and small. The 2 most special houses in the Joseon dynasty are the palace and the temple. The palace is more than 99kans. Only the king can have more than 99kans. The Buddhist temple, there are worship halls, lecture halls, and room for monks. There are big bells, drums, and pagoda. I want to visit the Joseon’s houses.
