Today, I went to the Namsan Hanok Village and saw the places where noblemen lived(기와집) . In the place where noblemen lived, there are the Sarangchae, Anchae, Haengrangchae, and etc. The Sarangchae was the place where the men lived and they were the shape of ㄷ. They sometimes studied there and it was a place for them to sleep. The Anchae is the room where the women stayed and was the shape of ㅁ. The noblemen house had the shape of ㄷ, ㅁ to be protected from the enenmies. Also, the Anchae is larger than the Sarangchae. The Haengrangchae was the place for the servants, so was near the front door to easily greet the guests. I wish I could learn more about the thatched roof houses, since I learned about the noblemen's house. |
