There are many unique aspects of Gyungun palace. First, there is the first western pavilion in Korea 석조전. In addition, we can see some trace of 고종. He tried to change 조선 dynasty into 대한 empire. Therefor, the sign board's color is yellow which represent the king and the king's symbole that was phenix altered to dragon. In addition, 고종 really loved coffee and drank it in small liquer cup with officials. I was attracted by the story of coffee and poison. Japanese tried really hard to murder 고종 but there was no way before he started to drink coffee. Japanese mixed coffee with poisonous liquid. On the other hand, 고종 notice the smell is little bit odd and decided not to drink. It means he was expert on coffee.
There are so many histories sleeping in this palace. To remember many dishonerable and eccentric memories we should well preserve and protect this palace. I was really excited and felt something mysterious in here. |
