Have you ever been to the Seoul History Museum? There were a lot of informations about Hanyang which is Seoul now. The things I am goimg to explain about is about the hanyang, six ministries street, three neighborhood, and about the hopae.

Starting with Hanyang, Hanyang was the new capital city the king Taeto chose in 1394. The reason he chose it for the capital there were three reasons why. It was according to Korean traditions, Feng shui and Confucianism. Also Hanyang was the center of politics, economy, culture, had good soils, and beautiful scenery.

In front the Gwanghwamun the main gate of the main palace which is the Gyeongbokgung palace, there were six ministries street. It was called six ministeries streer because the compounds for the government officials lined the east and west side. At the east side there were State Concil, Ministry of Personnel, The City Hall of Hanyang, Ministry of taxation, and Bureau of Elder Statesmen. Also at the west there were Ministry of Rite, Office of Inspector General, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Public Works.

Inside Hanyang there were three neighborhoods and they were Bukchon, Jungchon, and Namchon.

First Bukchon is located between Gyeongbokgung to the west and Changdeokgung to the east. Because of this location Bukchon is the best place to live according to the Feng shui theory. So royal families and high class officials lived there.

Second, there were Jungchon. Jungchon was between Jongno and Cheonggyecheon today. People as merchants, interpreters, doctors, legal officials ect lived there. So in a easy way that people are called middle class.

The last neighborhood is called Namchon. Namchon was the section of the capital at the foot of Namsan. There were many poor noblemen who were politically excluded in Namchon, but still few powerfull noblemen lived there.

Finally, ot is about Hopae! I think Hopae was the thing I remembered most clearly. Hopae was an identification card that time. On the front there sere name, class and date of birth. The back had the date of issue. People that time showed these to the gatekeeper before they entered the gate.

I think I learn a lot about seoul's history. I don't like museums but today was quite fun. Also these informations might be wrong so go by yourself and visit there! It will be fun than reading my essay! However thank you for reading my essay!!
