Today, I went to the National Museum of Korea. We learned about Goryeo Dynasty. However, I will tell you about printing of Goryeo Dynasty. These days, people use copy machines to print paper, but long time ago, people carved the wood or metal to print, which is more difficult and spending a lot of time. Korea has the oldest wood and metal printing document. The oldest wood is called 무구정광대다라니경 which is printed in the 8th century. The oldest metal printing document is called 상정고금예문 which was made 200 years before Gutenberg Bible was made. Now, I will tell you about Tripitaka Koreana. They are the scriptures that were carved on over 80,000 wooden blocks, and the most interesting thing is that there were no errors. Tripitaka Koreana helped us to know a lot of information like Mongol invasion and this protect Korea. Today, I had so much fun learing how Korea developed and long time ago people carved wood and metal instead of using copy machines. |
