Today, I went to Seoul Museum of History.I learned about various thing about HanYang, capital of Joeson.Among those, I would going to mainly talk about the location, palaces, and the three neighborhood in HanYang.

 Firstly, capital of Joseon, HanYang was located in north of Han river and south of the mountains.King Taejo choosed HanYang as a capital of Joeson at 1394.It was selected since of Korea traditions, Feung shui, and confucianism.Hanyang was a great place for a capita,l since Hanyang was center of politics, economy, and culture.In Hanyang there was a river called Han river wich helped Joeson people for transportation, trade route to trade with foreign countries, and giving fertile soil for farming.At that time, agriculture was important so having fertile soil was a big advantage.

 Moreover, there were five main palaces in Hanyang.KyeongBokGung, Changdeokgung, Changgyeonggung, Gyeonghuigugng, and DukSuGung.Chandeokgugng and Changgyeonggung was called Donggwol,Donggwol meant east palace.Chandeokgugng was built as a secondary palace at 1405 but was used as a main palace after Imjin war, Japanese war.Kyeonghwigug is called Seogeol, which means the west palace.Kyeonghwigugng area was originally, Jungwongun's lang but Kwanghaegun who longed for authority, since it is assumed that, Gwanghaegun had a complex that he was Seonjo, Joeson's 14th king and his concubine's son, tooked it.However, Gwanghaegun was dethroned and Jungwongun's son, Injo became the next king.

 Lastly, there was 3 neighborhood in Hanyang.Bukchon, Jungchon, and Namchon.In Buckchon, since it was located at the middle of KyeongBokGung and ChangDeokGung and was a best place to live according to the Feung Shui theory, it was where royal families and high officials lived.Next, Jungchon was located between Jongno and Chunggyecheon.In this neighborhood, Jungin lived.Jungin was middle class of people who where doctors, translators, or lawyers.Namchon was located at the bottom of the capital.In Namchon, poor nobleman lived.

 In conclusion, I talked about location, palaces, and three neighborhood in Hanyang.However, I couldn't believe that commoners cannot live in the capital of their city.I was frustrated one more time about the social discrimination at that time.
